About Pre-Camp

What? Although Main Camp begins Wednesday afternoon, we have had many requests over the years to extend the length of Scor!. Wednesday morning's Pre-Camp gives you more of the Sessions portion of Scor! -topical instructional sessions with your musical peers. Unlike the ubiquitous rehearsal, educational sessions taught by top-notch faculty in the field of adult string education are hard to come by. Pre-Camp is an opportunity for you to enjoy more of Scor! in the morning immediately preceeding Main Camp. Choose from various engaging and popular topics.

When? Pre-Camp will be held on Wednesday morning, July 12, 2017, the day main camp begins. (Main Camp begins in the afternoon.)

Pre-Camp Topics

•Technique Builder: Learn how to play with less pain, better accuracy and sound, and more freedom. Topcis covered may include relaxing & maintaining a loose bow arm, executing various bow strokes efficiently, relaxing the left hand to play with more consistent intonation, tips on shifting & vibrato, & more. Why does it look so easy when the pros do it? Unlock the secret, and begin your path to more enjoyable string playing! Better technique to sound better!

• See Music Differently: What's the secret to sight-reading? Have you ever gotten totally overwhelmed at ALL THOSE NOTES in front of you? How do professionals sight-read so accurately and confidently? Learn to see music the way professionals do, with built-in tricks to help you sight-read more accurately and quickly, play more rhythmically, and improve your ensemble playing.

• Articulate! Want to hear clarity in your sound? Learn to produce clear accents? Improve your stylistic approach and expressive playing? Expreience an attention to bow stroke detail that takes you to the next level!

What if I am staying overnight?
If you are from out of town, you’ll want to arrive in Rochester by Tuesday evening.

Does it cost extra?
Yes, but it’s only $89 for this unique & specialized instruction.

Is Pre-Camp required?
No, it is an option to elongate and enrich your Scor! experience.
